About the site

Voie Rapide (translates as "Expressway") was set up in 2017 to provide information on major road networks in France and Belgium, doing so by way of graphical "strip" maps - something that was not previously availabe for many countries.

The idea of the site was conceived in 2015, following a break after the closure of a dedicated UK website, and uses some of the original mapping files from that site. Voie Rapide took two years to put together before being launched, so there is a chance that some small details may have not yet caught up. However, regular checks are made to ensure details are updated.

In 2018, after a year long "bedding in" period, the site was given a revamp with additional information added. At the same time, Mótarbhealaí was launched to provide a dedicated mini-site for the Irish maps.

A further refresh was given in 2020 along with a slight refocus, which allowed us to expand the site to include information that would be useful to people intending on driving in France - in effect, becoming a more comprehensive guide to driving and roads in the country.

The site is independently owned and operated, and is done purely as a hobby. We're not affiliated with any government department or other organisation.

And all that is left to say is, thank you for visiting! Whether you are a first time visitor or a regular reader, your support is gratefully received.
